I just came in today and noticed your post. Are you still freezing in tournament mode?
Have you tried all the steps below in this article, such as checking your device for updates, restarting it, and re-downloading the app? As long as you play connected to Google/Apple/Facebook your progress will be saved to the servers and won't be lost upon re-installing.
