    Hello tomlinovic

If you have reached the limit, please read this information below.
This will help you in deauthorizing the game.

This technology allows users to "authorize" up to five computers to play the game at the same time.

Copies of Need for Speed Hot Pursuit come with SolidShield digital rights management technology. This technology allows users to "authorize" up to five computers to play the game at the same time.

If you are coming close to your five machine limit, or wish to deauthorize a computer for any reason, you can deauthorize your system from playing Need for Speed Hot Pursuit right from your computer's Start menu.

To use the in-game deauthorization tool for Need for Speed Hot Pursuit, follow the steps below.

    Windows Vista/Windows 7

    • Click on the Windows button on the Windows Taskbar.
    • Select All Programs.
    • Click on Games.
    • Click on Games Explorer.
    • Right-click on the Need for Speed Hot Pursuit icon.
    • Click on Need for Speed Hot Pursuit - Deauthorize this machine.

    Windows XP

    • Click on the Start Menu on the Windows Taskbar.
    • Select All Programs
    • Find the Electronic Arts folder.
    • Roll over the Need for Speed Hot Pursuit directory.
    • Click on the Need for Speed Hot Pursuit - Deauthorize this machine option.

You will receive a message when the computer is successfully deauthorized.  Deauthorization does not uninstall the game, however, so if you decide you want to reauthorize your computer later, all you have to do is relaunch the game while connected to the Internet.

I am having the same problem under different circumstances though. I have been unable to play NFS: HP for over 6 months now. I called and got a hold of a service rep that was under the Origin option, he transfered me and I had to wait on hold for roughly a half hour. The next service rep was quite helpful. He managed to help me get signed into Origin and got NFS: HP to show under my games. I downloaded, installed, and then when I went to launch the game it said activation limit exceeded AGAIN! I upgrade my gaming computer frequently as technology evolves and often re-install Windows in order to keep it running as fast as possible. So even though it has always actually been the same computer. I was unaware that I was required to deauthorize it before upgrading my pc and reinstalling Windows7 64-Bit. How can I deauthorize so my activation limit has not been reached any longer when it was always the same computer? I purchased the limited edition because I love NFS and especially Hot Pursuit. I have more or less been on strike and have avoided purchasing any other EA Games since this happened and it has still not been resolved. Punish the pirates, not the purchasers! A new license key would be nice but do I still have to deauthorize it everytime I upgrade my PC?! If anyone at EA can get me racing again I will purchase all the other NFS games that have come out since, but I refuse to pay twice for the same game...it's just not fair to me. I can email pics of the case, manual, disc, whatever is needed to prove that I really purchased and own the game. Thanks...

Thezmanlives I understand what you mean but I will try to clarify this.

So, basically even if it's the same computer, an Operating System upgrade (for instance) is considered as a major change too.

That is not a problem at all, as long as you dehautorize the game before the change. After the upgrade like you've mentioned it does not work.

If have exceed this limit of 5 authorizations and you have no options left to revoke 1 license, then you can just contact our team and explain the situation.

When sending your request you don't have necessary to call us if you want to avoid the waiting time on the phone, usually there is an email option you can use.

On the help center you have to select contact us + the product and then scroll down until you see 'I still need help.'

If you need more details just let us know.

    ERROR MESSAGE:

The activation limit for this serial number has been exceeded. Contact customer support for more information.
    1. If you see this error message you will need to revoke licenses using the Activations.exe on PCs no longer using this game.
You can view the number of available activations by running the Activation.exe.

    2. If you can't revoke the licences, you have to contact the customer support team here: Contact Us follow the simple steps, and select I Still Need Help. Note, if you aren’t logged in already, you will be asked to login.

Well I am past this issue but now when I put in Resident Evil 5 disc in (required to play), NFS: Hot Pursuit launches! I'm running an all AMD system right now but I'm going back to Intel & Nvidia & PS3 VERY soon. I will remember to de-authorize this time before re-installing Windows! Recommendation: Use IP address to verify that it is the same user instead of letting customers run out of authorizations just because they re-build their computers often! All my EA games will be on PS3 from here on out so that way I don't have to live in fear of not remembering to de-authorize all my EA games. PC Gaming enthusiasts should be rewarded for upgrading their computers not punished. Same with Microsoft actually. With Windows, blu-rays (on PC), and PC games there is WAY too much paranoia. I own everything I use and still suffer through too much red tape.
