Can I use my personal song that I made for a YouTube video?
Just wanted to know because I wanted to start a YouTube channel. It won't be monitized though. I just wanted to use the in-game videos along with the song.

YouTube channels that are not being monetized are just as important as the ones being monetized. There are WAYYYYYYYYYY more channels that are not monetized than channels that are monetized.
People could upload videos for fun (like I do).

You can add a snippet of music you don't own in your videos. It's called fair use.
There's a difference between adding a 3 second snippet of a song and adding a 1 minute duration of a song in a video.

Like I said, adding just 3 seconds of a song is allowed as it's fair use. Nothing wrong with that.
Dude I tried that 3 second sound bite once and YouTube took my video down for copyright strike.
So I never did that again.
Also I had reached out to YouTube about fair use.
They told me with the new laws for the music industry they will protect music Artists and that the fair use is not valid on their service platform.
If you disagree that's fine.
Go contact YouTube yourself and learn what I already know.
Also like I said people can only use their own copyrighted music or to use a service that offers Royalty Free Music.
Go read the full terms of service also starting January 2020.
All channels must be monitized or at some point YouTube will remove your channel.
