Content Suggestions for the new nfs game
To the Need for Speed Team,
I've been a fan of Need for Speed for years, and I wanted to share some ideas for what I think could become the ultimate Need for Speed game.
First, I think the atmosphere of the game is one of the most important things. Need for Speed Rivals had amazing weather, a great sense of speed, and different environments that made the world feel alive. Need for Speed 2015 had an incredible nighttime atmosphere, while Unbound brought unique social spaces and style. I would love to see a future game combine the best parts of all three.
The map should be huge and diverse, but I especially think there should be more long roads and highways built for high-speed racing. Some of the best moments in Need for Speed happen when you're pushing a car to its limits, and having more open roads would make that experience even better.
For cars, I would love to see a much larger vehicle roster. One thing that disappoints many players is seeing mostly the same cars return every game with only a few additions. A massive selection of vehicles from different eras and categories would make every player's garage feel unique. While I know having over a thousand cars might not be realistic, I would love to see the largest car roster in the history of the franchise.
Customization in Unbound was excellent and should definitely continue. At the same time, I think Heat had the better performance upgrade system because parts could be reused across multiple cars instead of buying the same upgrades repeatedly. Combining these systems would be ideal.
One feature I would love to see is the ability to switch between grip and drift handling while driving. Sometimes players want maximum stability and precise racing, while other times they want to drift and have fun. Being able to switch modes instantly would give players more freedom without constantly changing setups.
The damage system could also be improved. Instead of damage appearing only when a health bar gets low, I would love to see more realistic localized damage. If the front bumper is hit, the front bumper should show damage. If the side is hit, the side should show damage. This would make crashes feel much more believable.
At the same time, I think the instant repair system from Rivals and Unbound is a great feature and should return. It keeps gameplay fast and fun instead of forcing players to stop for repairs. However, the cooldown can sometimes feel too long. A good compromise would be keeping the cooldown system but allowing players to repair their cars immediately during the cooldown by paying a small amount of in-game money. This would give players more freedom while still keeping the repair mechanic balanced.
Another idea is expanding car meet locations. Unbound introduced event areas, but I think these could become fully developed social spaces where players can actually drive in, park, show off their cars, meet other players, and start races naturally instead of simply using them as menu transitions.
I also think the visual style should be customizable. The anime-inspired effects from Unbound were unique, but not every player wants them. Giving players the option to switch between a realistic visual style and a stylized Unbound-inspired style would satisfy both groups of players.
Customization could go even further with the ability to design and change the speedometer, gauges, HUD, and dashboard displays. Many players enjoy personalizing every aspect of their cars, and this would add another layer of individuality.
A first-person cockpit view is another feature I strongly believe should be included. Being able to experience the game from inside the car would make racing feel much more immersive.
Finally, I think the driving itself should feel more alive. Rivals captured speed extremely well, but I would love steering and road feel that provide more feedback and make every car feel connected to the road. The handling should remain fun and accessible while still giving players a stronger sense of control and immersion.
Need for Speed has always been about speed, freedom, customization, and style. I believe combining the strongest features from previous games while introducing new ideas like these could create something truly special.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
