Controller settings assignment on PS3 Need for Speed Rivals

Anyone knows how to change the Controller assignment.. I'm 45 years old ole school.. I been playing Need for speed for long time somehow this game I cannot assign the the controller the way I want it..Very frustrating.. EA blow this game big time for not allowing us to change the way we like it.. Bummer
