But having seen the gameplay trailer we can see just how easy it is for you to lose roughly 2/3 of it just for hitting a spike strip, who knows how much you'll take from a kamikaze FVPD style cop, or even the Killswitch? I'm worried that Heat will get the same negative feedback as Rivals for a system where the cops only attempt to destroy your car without any thought as to whether they can detain a suspect intact. No difficulty setting can truly fix a finite meter, wouldn't it be better to have consistent aggression to move away from passive-aggressive behaviour of the FVPD?
Now, it's a very good point that it should be tried first, HOWEVER the reason I have taken action now is because if it's a major flaw after the game has released, it would be almost impossible to revert seeing as it seems to be a core mechanism in the game engine. What I'm saying is that if those who really don't want it don't act now, it will stay after release, no matter the pleas or patches received later. Even if it was the most hated system in gaming, it would already be rooted too far into the game's code and the devs would probably just outright refuse to get rid of it, to add insult to injury. I guess everyone's fine with a health bar system then, even though Rivals practically had a bomb dropped on it for things like this...

Who doesn't love an effective system that works? And battling cops for hours makes it a true endurance trial! So what your saying is that cops can't even "bust" you anymore, they have to wreck your car? If that was actually true that's just outrageous, at least the RCPD could arrest you normally as well...
I refuse to believe this is too far gone, and I'm actually annoyed now because I realise that they hid this mechanic from us until a gameplay trailer. Reminiscent of the "Suprise Mechanics" we all know and love. Repair shop spamming will surely return from Rivals, they also appeared in the last 4 NFS games (3 of which didn't have a health system). Maybe we can make it go somewhere.

the system is trash, it has no business being in need for speed, it is only there to sell you repair kits later as a micro transaction, or was intended with that in mind and then pulled out due to recent backlash.

If you trust EA to care about their consumers you're one delusional human being. I've played this game for 1 hour and uninstalled it. Cops have super powers in this game, they catch up to you in a split second after you make 90 degree turn while the cop is in front of you. Then ram you at 300 mph, and your car is done, at heat level 2. Not to mention damage you take from traffic and other drivers, this system is designed with consumables in mind that im assuming you were supposed to purchase in the store. There is no other reason to have this system. Its designed to frustrate the fk out of you, till you pay up.

Certainly an interesting idea, and a way to add MTX or hidden ones post-release. I agree with you, and I'm inclined to believe my instincts were right about this issue!
Because now there are debates about whether the cops themselves are too difficult, and whether to add more repairs. Rediculous, I say. Realisation of the underlying problem is very necessary, and if you've seen the radio chatter videos where the player is using an unlimited health trainer, you can tell that the PCPD really struggle to bust you (most of the time)
Thanks for your input!
- 6 years ago@Jacobba55 I got to heat level 4 last night and banked a nice little haul of rep and barely a scratch on me just by racing. As soon as I finished one race, I was heading straight to the next closest one as fast as I could. The only pursuits I was ever involved in were the ones during the race and they were over before the race ended. I had the damage reduction on passive and the repair kit (which i never had to use) as an active perk. The only reason I used the gas station in that time was because I wanted my car to look pretty during the loading screen.
I'm telling you guys, the game isn't broken, there isn't a conspiracy to extract more money out of you later and the cops and damage meter don't need to be adjusted. The game is fine, just as it is, all we really need in the future is some more missions DLC, some more music and some new cars.
