What format version of NFS are you both playing?
This might be the the problem.?
Another idea is maybe you are playing the game far more than your son and hence you are making more money in the game because your up in levels.
You know Payback has a progression in earning money and getting access to other game features.
So consider my ideas... thanks for asking your question.
