First of all I love the game. It takes me back to the days of Underground. That is a brilliant achievement considering where the franchise went during the XB360/PS3 generation. There is a lot in this game to commend and appreciate. That said, there are just some odd decisions that seem like simple fixes that keep this game from being damn near perfect.
Firstly, if I am doing story events, or really any event in general and they don't include the players found in matchmaking, then they should not be able to sabotage the races. On several occasions I experienced sometimes a cluster of users who scope out events and will purposely crash into racers and the only solution is to move to a different race and hope they don't follow (thought that happened as well) or back out and hope to be paired up with a better group. Also, If I am in the game and 30 minutes later my buddies hop on, I don't think I should have to back out entirely to join their session. Why can't garage be offline or outside of matchmaking, so at very least I can edit my car while waiting for pals to join?
Secondly, the editing features in the garage are a nice start and I hope it's just groundwork for the inevitable sequel where it is much deeper. That said, if I am doing a wrap, I should be able to perfectly mirror things from side to side so I don't have to guess and hope that what I did on driver's side is the same on passengers side, same thing with color, it just eats up time to check, fix, check, fix when the simple solution is just mirror a piece.
My second and a half point is, merging wrap layers. When I have to combine pieces for an intricate design and say I want to change the color after the fact, there are too many variables at play where I could nudge a single piece. Why can't we merge layers if we so chose? As it is if I have to use 6 pieces to get an overall wrap then I have to change color 6 times and that is time consuming. I am also curious about auto-sculpting. Say as it pertains to tires. Now I can adjust track width but maybe I want to have deep dish rims, or 10 maybe 12 inch deep rims on the back end. It looks dorky having 8 inch deep rims on some rides with some body kits.
I really think this basis for the future is gold. Obviously there probably isn't a lot more to be done for this installment, but using this as a golden guideline for the next Need For Speed is exciting. That being said, the car selection is weird to me. Personally I don't think Supercars have a real place in games like this. Every racing game has supercars and every game makes it seem as though they are the ultimo primo car, when in reality my Fox Body was just as useful and destroyed super cars. So, going forward I wish we could see some more unique and real world cars. Cars that the every man make epic. Since there's not really much customizing on super cars anyway, I thin Need for Speed always spoke to me, at least Undergrounds did, because we made our kinda cars super. So here are a few cars that maybe could be DLC or for future installments
