Frame Rate Drops in NFS Most Wanted PC

I'm wondering if this is normal... my frame rate drops to the low 20s sometimes evecn 15 in certain scenes but usually stays around 25-35 and in some areas goes up to 60fps

Goes to show that you can't buy an NFS game on release anymore which is sad, Criterion promised a good year of support but with patches taking this long that support is pretty barebones.
Makes you wonder how rushed this version of the game actually is, are they rewriting entire parts of the engine? Why else would it take this long.
