HDR issue on PC
On the settings menu, HDR is either on Auto or Off...if on Auto, in fullscreen mode, the colors are purple, green, blues, etc.... terrible....if switched off, it's normal non HDR. Had anyone else ex...
Does your TV/display have Dolby Vision?
Check if you can turn that off in the TVs settings.
Thanks.
So I've found the secret menu for my TV and turned off Dolby but the issue issue persists
In Nvidia Control Panel go to "Change Resolution" and set to "Use default colors". My game also acts up if I'm not using the default options.
please check out my post about restarting career. please
If we disable Deep Color on the TV (LG OLED77G6 / OLED55C7 / OLED55C8 / OLED55C9), we have only 4:2:0 chroma in SDR, this not an acceptable solution, game looks like crap.
Also tried 4:2:0 / 4:2:2 8bits with limited black level but the game launch in HDR with only pink/green colors ...
I can play in Dolby vision mode with 4:4:4 RGB full but I can't alt tab or leave the game because of the black screen on the main monitor (LG OLED), only solution is to restart the computer after i have finished to play ...
I don't spend 10000$+ on my setup to play on a game in SDR and only with chroma 4:2:0 or to restart the computer every times I leave the game.
This problem is not fixed yet, why ?
Can you please disable Dolby Vision from the game so I can play it normally ? (or fix it so we can actually play in Dolby vision without the black screen when we leaving/alt tab the game ?)
Fun thing, I was a shareholder of Electronic Arts before, the fact that this problem happened on all of your frostbite games made me think, why support a company that systematically brings the same bug to every release of a Frostbite game? (ME Andromeda was fine but ... Star Wars battlefront II, Batefield 1, Battlefield 5 and Anthem had this exact same problem before)
Seriously, I preorder every games from you and i have also Origin Access Basic (spending like 600€+ per years since i bought your games on Xbox too) but if this issue is not fixed soon (like very soon), I will not preorder any more and I will cancel the new Star Wars.
Same things happen again and again, I can never play any of your frostbite game when they are released and this bug persist for days/weeks because you bring back this bug every times.
I hope that you understand me, I generally love your games but this Dolby Vision Black screen bug is really annoying, every times ..., I don't understand why you don't test the game on the best "monitor" on the planet right now => LG OLED serie 9 (and the bug is present on every TV who has Dolby Vision)
EA tests their games in Bucharest with minimum wage-paid testers that have little to no experience. Imagine being paid $400 (with around $200 going towards rent+utilities) and maybe you'll understand why all EA's games in the past 10 years or so have been utterly filled with bugs.
Same Problem here:
LG OLED C9 with GeForce 2080Ti. The Game starts in Dolby Vision and when I switch with ALT-TAB to the Desktop the Game crashes with the Black-Screen! Need a fix by choosing in HDR Mode to HDR / HDR10 / Dolby Vision / OFF / Automatica...
Please... EA... Whats going on?
Regards, Uwe
Dolby vision seems to be only working with RGB color space and not ycbr which makes playing on an OLED a pain the * because you can only play with 8 bits at RGB full 4k/60fps. the whole point of dolby vision is to make use of the 12bit colors. the only way I could make it work with dolby vision at 12 bit RGB full is to limit my OLED to 30fps. there is still the black screen bug tho, even if you quit the game, the signal is still dolby vision.
You can bypass dolby vision if you set ycbr to 4:2:2 @ 12 bit and then enable HDR in windows display setting. when you go in-game set it to borderless window. thats the only way to get proper HDR10
seems like no one in the dev department actually tested to see if everything works. what a mess
Fixed With Auto HDR Windows 11
Disabled HDR in Game Settings
Auto HDR Windows 11 - ON
And how do we get this?
Windows 11 not even out yet
I finally found a real fix. It's because the game is trying to use Dolby Vision for HDR but Windows only supports Dolby Vision on certain licensed devices(mostly laptops). The same thing happens if you try to enable Dolby Vision in ME: Andromeda
I used Custom Resolution Utility, edited the CTA-861 extension block and removed the Dolby Video data block. This basically tells windows that your display doesn't support Dolby Vision. After a reboot the game is outputting in regular HDR10 now. Dolby Vision just doesn't work on PC anyways so nothing is really lost here and you can revert back to defaults with CRU too if support ever gets added.
