Hot Pursuit Remastered error: There's a problem with your game's setup. Reinstal
Hello, I bought and downloaded this game via Steam back in December, but I haven’t been able to play it. Whenever I launch, it doesn't start and I get this error: "There is a problem with your game's set up. Please reinstall your game."
I have tried everything I've been able to find online:
- I verified the game files; deleted xinput1_1, xinput1_2 and xinput1_3 dlls from system32 and SysWOW64 folders, and reinstalled them with dxwebsetup; updated all my drivers, including my display drivers;
- I have also cleared Origin's cache, still, nothing has worked.
- I even moved it to a different drive to see if that will work but nope.
- I reinstalled too, but that didn't fix the error.
- I contacted EA Help on Twitter and some fixes were recommended to me. They were:
- Repair the game: https://help.ea.com/en/help/origin/origin/my-game-downloaded-through-origin-but-will-not-install/. I tried this but the option to repair on Origin is unclickable. I’m guessing that's because I downloaded it via Steam. Anyway, on Steam, instead of repair there is an option to verify the game files which I did. It was a success but the game still gave that same error.
- Make a new windows user in case the current one is corrupted: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/create-a-local-user-or-administrator-account-in-windows-20de74e0-ac7f-3502-a866-32915af2a34d. Launched the game via the new user I created and it is still the same thing
- Use windows file checker: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/use-the-system-file-checker-tool-to-repair-missing-or-corrupted-system-files-79aa86cb-ca52-166a-92a3-966e85d4094e. Did everything on the page, was successful, no corrupt files but still didn't work.
- Perform a clean boot: https://help.ea.com/en/help/faq/how-to-clean-boot-your-pc/. Same story.
- This thread (https://answers.ea.com/t5/Anthem/quot-There-is-a-problem-with-your-game-s-setup-Please-reinstall/td-p/7376553) was suggested to me as well. I did everything, I mean everything that was suggested on that thread and nothing worked.
- I also went to the game files folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Need For Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered\__Installer\directx\redist (screenshot attached) and ran DXWEBSETUP, it was a success, but the game won’t run.
- I uninstalled all versions of Visual C++ on my PC and installed everyone I could find on https://docs.microsoft.com/en-US/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170 but didn't work. (Attached is a screenshot of all versions currently on my PC).
I have also attached a screenshot of my PC info.
What am I missing? This has to be a bug. Please help me. Anyone.
Thank you
