After reading the comments posted on reddit, I have a bad feeling about Underground Rivals now. I have a feeling that Underground Rivals will be worse than Blackridge Rivals by taking the pay2win aspect up a notch.
Firemonkeys released a batch of cars needed to prepare for Underground Rivals via Twitter. I'll mention the cars needed for the sake of my argument.
The ones bolded are Special Event cars.
Driver Division
Ford Mustang Hoonicorn (Muscle)
Ford Mustang Boss 302 (Muscle) *Blueprints can be bought in Kelly's Chop Shop
Subaru BRZ (Street)
Speedster Division
Ford GT (2017) (Super)
Ford Shelby GT500 (Snoop Dogg) (Muscle)
Nissan Skyline GT-R BNR32 (Classic Sports)
Breakneck Division
McLaren P1 (Hyper)
Pagani Zonda Cinque (Hyper) *Blueprints can be bought in Kelly's Chop Shop and has a permanent replayable race if Special Event is completed
BMW M4 F82 (Sports)
As you can see above, players with Campaign cars will not be able to compete with players with Special Event cars when opponents will be in way faster cars than theirs.
Example: Player plays in Driver Division. They are able to drive one of the three cars allowed in that division. They only have Subaru BRZ. They get matchmaked with an opponent with a Ford Mustang Hoonicorn. The player has no chance of winning.
So instead of needing one Special Event car to compete for the top of the leaderboards in Blackridge Rivals (which already was bad enough), players will need three Special Event cars each week to compete for the top of the leaderboards in Underground Rivals.
This pay2win tactic was done back in NFS World when Tiers were replaced with Car Classes in 2012.
Instead of needing 1 pay2win car for all three tiers to compete, players needed 1 pay2win car for five car classes to compete. (One car class was completely free from pay2win)
Regardless of everything I said above, I'm still going to give Underground Rivals a try and hope that I am wrong about all of this.
What I am hoping with Underground Rivals is if I choose one car to race, then I get ONLY opponents that drive the same car as me.
So if I wanted to drive my Subaru BRZ in Driver Division, then I only get opponents that drove their Subaru BRZ as well.
Like I said from my previous post. As long as players can use their Campaign cars to compete for the top in Underground Rivals, then it's fine with me.
