It is unlawful for companies like EA to collect any sort of data on a minor; this includes (online) in-game accumulated stats such as present in Need for Speed.
As mentioned by @Somemighty there are several ways to get around this. In any case, your best bet is to just create an account yourself and have your son play through that if you want to play the game with him.
