What is your operating system exactly?
Can you turn off DEP and try again? (DEP: Data Execution Prevention)
Data Execution Prevention is a feature in Windows that determines whether or not programs are safe to run.Though this feature might be helpful in some cases, sometimes Windows determines a program is not safe to run even if the program is completely harmless.
In that case, you can follow the instructions below to fix the issue:
Windows 7 / Vista
- Right-click on your Desktop and click on Properties.
- You will see your System window now. Click on Advanced System Settings.
- You will see the System Properties window. Click on the Advanced tab.
- Under Performance, click on Settings (the top button).
- You will see a pop-up appear called Performance Options.
- Click on the Data Execution Prevention tab.
- Click on Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select.
- Click on the Add button.
- Browse to where you installed the game and select the .exe file.
- Restart your computer and try playing your game again.
Windows XP
- Click on Start.
- Click on Control Panel.
- Double-click on System.
If you do not see the System icon, click on Switch to Category View. - Click on the Advanced Tab.
- Under Performance, click on Settings.
- Click on the Data Execution Prevention tab.
- Click on Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select.
- Click on the Add button.
- Browse to where you installed the game and select the .exe file.
- Restart your computer and try playing your game again.

That fix is no good buddy.
We're using Windows 7 - 64 bit here.
It won't even allow you to change that option you said, it says NFS has to run using that DEP thing.
It's weird how suddenly there's lots of us about and all our Need for Speed Rivals have stopped working.
Looks like EA have made a boo boo somewhere. Mine was fine the other week and I've only just recently bought Rivals.
Now I can't play it, talk about annoying?
Something is screwed up with the updates for it or something, I tried lots of things yesterday on my machine even a full 1 hour ram test in Memtest. My ram is perfect, so is my hard drive. All my Direct X, .NET framework is installed perfectly.
Whatever EA have done, can it be fixed please?
