Need for Speed 2016 Directx error and low fps and stutter issues.

Not sure why this post keeps disappearing but i guess i will just keep re posting till it shows up. 😕

My PC

Windows 7 Home 64 bit. Fully up to date.

AsusZ87 V-edition MB

16GB G-Skill 1866 ram

Intel I7 4770K over clocked at 4.3 mhz via XMP automatic overclock in BIOS

EVGA GTX 1080 SC over clocked with MSI After burner.

Corsair SSD and WD Black HDD

Game installed on WD black edition hard drives.

Issue is NFS has suddenly become buggy a lot. If i even try to overclock my card the game will crash and give me a Directx device function " video card has been removed" error every time.

I can make it crash every time by going into the map and move the view around to look at different areas of the map. 100% every time doing this in map access crashes the game. Other games handle a much higher over clock via MSI with out issues. I even ran Metro 2033, Furmarks and Heaven benchmark each for 30 minutes plus with out a single issue . NFS 2016 is the only game that im having this crash issue with. Even when i over clocked my gtx 780 ti it never did this. GTX 1080 how ever with a mild over clock and the game crashes every single time. Only way i can get the game to not crash is to run stock clocks. Can leave MSI afterburner with Rivatuner on and i get no problems, but try a over clock and the game crashes. My normal over clock only pushes the card to 2088mhz on the core and 5400mhz on the memory so its in line with the pascal over clock numbers many have been getting. PC case is well cooled .I have a led read out fan controller built into it and the temps remain at 21.3 degrees Celsius and the card never goes above 65 degrees Celsius. So temps are not an issues ether.

Second and more annoying issues is with the new gtx 1080 is i get a bad FPS drop a lot now. The game will run perfect 60fps ( 60 hz 30 inch monitor ) with vysnc but play for more then ten minutes and then it starts acting up. Again i monitor my temps in my G510 lcd display and they never get above 65* c . I can cause the low fps every time by leaving the garage, heading for A Legends Wheel by the police and fuel station area and the game will drop to 43 or so fps and stutter terribly every time there. Just do circle at that areas intersection and watch the game nose dive in FPS. Not all spots do it in game though it is only certain areas in game that causes a major drop. Always seems to be the same spots that do it to. It isn't because i dont have the hardware to run this game that's for sure. Here is everything i have tried and yet the game still runs crappy in areas. As you can see it certainly points to the game as being at fault.

Uninstall Nvidia driver via Driver Uninstaller ( DDU ) in safe mode and CCleaner as a extra good measure.

Tried drivers 378.78 , 378.66 and 375.95 , each a detailed clean install.

Each driver install contained only the driver and Physix software.

Turned off Origin in game

Compatibility mode on and off both

Set game exe with administrator permission.

Origin with admin permission on and off.

Reset Modem and reduced system services.

Internet speed in 90 mbps hard wired, not wireless.

6 foot Cat 6 cable from cable modem to pc.

Gave NFS and Origin services High priorities

Uninstalled MSI and unplugged Xbox windows controller to test with keyboard.

Repaired game

Updated game , even though its was already as a long shot

Reinstalled game as well.

So even though I tried every one of these things no way will the game run a solid 60 fps all the time with my GTX 1080. The card works like a dream in every other game. It will rip through Crysis 3

with SMAA x2 at my 2560 x 1600p res and never once drop below 60 fps. Like i say it is just NFS only that drops fps big time now. I even removed my Reshade 3.0 preset , reinstalled the game and tried it with out the preset installed and still , i swear to you the game still drop fps and stutters in certain areas. I even prefer SSAO over HBAO so the game isn't even technically " maxed". I have weeded every thing else out and everything is pointing to the game being bugged imho . If any one wants to check your fps drops in the areas described to see if its happens to you. Its enough to drive a person mad at this point. This is the error i get when over clocking . With the fps issue no errors come up it is just the game runs poorly and stutters like crazy.

  • 😕 Well im out of ideas. It is ether game or connection as every thing else has been tried. I used MyD on the hard drive, optimized it , and every thing. Installed the new 378.92 drivers and even went into my modems on line settings and made sure EA tunnel was in there and everything. I am in Canada and use Rogers high speed. Test give me 90Mbps . Connection doesn't make sense as the game is problematic in the same spots every time. I give up as there isn't anything left to try to my knowledge.

  • The game crashed again. Here are the Windows 7 event viewers logs. No particular order.

NFS crashes then Origin follows .

Can give you a dxdiag upload as well if needed.

Like i said this is going to be a extremely hard fix . I am going to say big enough that we cant spend forever on it as you dont have that much time . Time to call in NASA.

  • Just to add bud,  i did a hard drive benchmark to get a reasonable idea where my games hard drive is at in performance. Here are the results . Thought maybe those areas i am having the low fps and stuttering are results of low HD speeds so i ran the test .

    @master2g

    Possible factors:

    • Relatively low hard drive random access speed
    • An issue with libGLESv2.dll - potentially fixed by an Origin clean reinstall: Link
    • Origin not installed on C:\
  • Thanks for hanging in there with me bud. I owe you a few beer....er i mean sugar free soda because insinuating beer drinking on the forum would be just wrong, an i would never do that . :P Bad Gary bad !!

Those are good ideas so im going to run through them. Figure i will check them and related items as well like cables and such . Give me a few my friend to run through them and i will report back asap.

  • Reinstalled Origin , nothing fixed . I have Origin and Origin Games on my e drive that is my WD Black 1 tb drive. Actually every thing game wise is installed on that drive. Steam and all those games as well. The game runs some what better but now it wants to crash once or twice then works from there. I will play it and even if im sitting parked the game will just crash with in a 30m mark give or take. So I run it again and it crashes once more then oddly it works decent from there. So one problem partially fixed and another replaces it. It ether a windows 7 deep issue or the game/origin itself. I have gone thought everything on my system and this is the only game the gives me grief. It just doesn't like my gtx 1080 .Every other game , even NFS most wanted 2012 run all day long even on a higher over clock at that. Im dont friggen with NFS 2016 anymore . I cant prove it 100% but everything is pointing to a buggy game. Its been a majorly huge pain in the butt having to spend this much time on  game just to try and make it work. Anyways thanks a ton for the help my friend but i am moving on as i have run out of patience. ☹️

  • No apology needed you helped plenty my friend. Look, I wouldn't want your job as you are the " middle man " fielding and having to deal with angry rants , insults and the rest of the **** comments that comes directed towards EA not you. Its like the gas station attended getting crapped on for high gas prices. You just work there it is not like you run the company and they listen to your decisions anyways  :P   You dont have to comment LOL on that statement as i know you need your job . Anyways i didn't abandon it right after i posted and tried a few things that wasn't really a go to solution. I redid my CPU over clock to a higher but even more safe over clock with finer detail. I worked on getting my 1080 and 4770k running in perfect "harmony"  by tweaking everything to the finest of numbers and it seems to have help all games across the board even NFS 2016. It still dips but not as bad and the stuttering has been reduced a good amount to. I am old enough to have learned by now to take 90 percent good and live with 10 percent bad . Asking for 100 % perfection in anything is just asking for a long painful road to acceptance of 90% in the end anyways  LOL. Anyways thanks again bud and have a good one and game hard always . :eahigh_file:
