I always experience the same thing when I start the game. What usually fixes it is by left clicking on the window, or using alt + tab or minimizing and maximizing the window again. Usually one of those things will get the game to become "selected" and it actually registering when I press the spacebar.

KJ-FOZ please try the steps we've shared and let us know if you have any questions.Sorry for delay in responding unpluging everything doesnt do anything but did get it working for a bit by left clicking and pressing space got it going but that is very intermitant as it doesnt always work..
Seems iv wasted money so i think its lesson learned.
