Need For Speed Hot Pursuit crashes upon race start

I purchased a 3-game digital download deluxe set yesterday that included Burnout Paradise Ultimate Box, Need For Speed Rivals, and Need For Speed Hot Pursuit.  The first two titles (one being older and the other newer) work great, but Need For Speed Hot Pursuit crashes upon starting a race.

I've scoured the web and tried numerous ways to stop the game from crashing when starting up a race, but to avail.  These include: setting compatibility mode (trying numerous previous versions of Windows), running as Administrator, lowering the graphics settings within the game settings, tuning the NVidia settings specific to the game in the NVidia control panel (including disabling Anti-Aliasing), setting affinity for the NFS11.exe process (trying just 1, 2, and 3 CPUs instead of all 4), repairing the game via the Origin UI, and checking for updates to the game via the Origin UI.  Sadly none of these have allowed me to play the game.

Can anyone suggest anything else I might try to get the game to play?  Any/ all help is greatly appreciated!

Here are my computer's stats:

GPU: NVidia GeForce GTX 750 Ti

CPU: Intel Core i5-4440 @ 3.10GHz

RAM: 16GB

Resolution: 1920x1200 @ 59Hz

Driver version: 352.84

O/S: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro Insider Preview

Thanks in advance!

David

  • @davidking77 have you tried this step, right click on the game in Origin, select Game Properties, and tick disable Origin In Game.

    Make sure you are the administrator, run the setup file Origin with Admin rights.
    Restart Origin and you should be fine.

    @yahel_1 I tried your suggestion, but it is still crashing.

    Here are the steps I completed:

    I went to Game Properties and checked the box "Disable Origin in Game for this game" and clicked OK

    I verified my account has Administrator rights (it was already set)

    I modified the shortcut for launching Origin and checked the box "Run this program as an administrator" and clicked OK

    I launched Origin and then launched Need For Speed Hot Pursuit.

    When I started the race, the game crashed.

    After the program crashes, I am returned to the Windows desktop and have a dialog window that reads: "Need for Speed(TM) Hot

    Pursuit Application has stopped working" with additional text "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows

    will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."  The only button on the dialog window is "Close program" which shuts it down.

    Did I possibly miss (or misunderstand) a step you intended?  When you mentioned "run the setup file Origin with Admin rights" you did simply mean to launch Origin as Administrator, correct?  I don't need to reinstall the game, or Origin do I?

    Any other suggestions?

    Thanks again for your assistance,

    David

    @davidking77 make sure you have installed Origin and game.

    And now i think you can try a Clean Boot In this case, they can be eliminated as the source of the problem.

    -you need to press the key combination: “Windows Key + R”;
    In the “Run” window, type the message “msconfig” without quotes;
    -you need to left click on the “OK” button;
    Select “General” tab, from the toolbar and chose the feature called “ Selective startup”;
    -uncheck the box found in the left of the message: “ Load startup items”;
    Select “Service” tab, from the toolbar;
    -check the box in the left of message: “Hide all Microsoft services”;
    Left click on the “Disable all” button, found on the lower-right side of the window;
    Left click on the “OK” button;
    -a new message box will prompt on your display. Left click on the “Restart” button in order to restart your operating system.

    NOTE save any open files and close all programs before restarting your computer.

    #and for your question ..Yes simply launch Origin as Administrator
