Online storage is a really good idea (I have PS Plus too).
Unfortunately for me I didn't know the existance of the glitch - it wasn't exactly happening to everybody. That meant I didn't think I needed to back up my save file to everything - I was kind of stupid that way. But nobody would blame me since the glitch was there, and EA and Criterion were doing nothing to stop it or even acknowledging its existance.
Now I backup everything to my PS Plus Online storage - for my PS3 and Vita (and PS4 soon) - I do this for all my games. ALL OF THEM.
Saving the data online may be a workaround, but it is NOT a solution! My PS3 disc drive has died as a result of this glitch in the game. Too many times turning off when the game is frozen I fear.
