Need For Speed: Most Wanted freezes on PlayStation 3
This game has hard-locked on me twice. The first time, I was just driving around in the city and the game just stopped, froze. I tried to quit the game by pushing the PS button on the controller but it was unresponsive. I could only turn my system off while the game was running. When I booted it back up, my system asked me if I wanted to report the software failure to Sony, which I did, and it also performed the file restoration process.
The second time this happened, I decided to "Jump To" a different car and the game cut away to the loading screen while it was also trying to save something to the hard drive. Why in the hell would a game do this?! I don't know, that's beyond me! While it was loading AND saving, the game hard-locked. Once again, I could not quit the game by pushing the PS button on the controller, I had to just push the power button on the system while it was running. The system reported the problem to Sony and restored the file system but because I turned off the system while the game was saving something to the hard drive, it caused Need for Speed: Most Wanted's save file to become corrupted and I lost ALL of my cars and car modifications for Single Player campaign mode but yet, all of my times and achievements for completing Campaign Mode races are still posted throughout the city!
This is totally unacceptable!! Why does a game freeze while it's trying to save something?! Because it did, I lost ALL of the cars and modifications! I like Single Player a whole lot better than Multiplayer. I want all of the cars and modifications back without playing through the entire game all over again and just risk it freezing yet again which might cause me to lose them all again and also put my PlayStation 3 at risk of crashing completely. EA and Criterion; I now speak directly to both of you. Fix this major issue! I refuse to play a game that freezes and ultimately causes me to lose my achievements. Until there is a new patch for this game, I won't even load it into my system and if this problem is never resolved, I'll just get rid of the game.
