Need For Speed: Most Wanted

I downloaded Need For Speed: Most Wanted because it was free and it loaded fine and everything my issue is once I'm in the game. I started playing it, and I got to the point where I had found my new car, switching cars was easy, here's my issue: When I had to set a destination by pressing number 6 nothing would happen. I was over here frantically pressing number 6, I even uninstalled it and reinstalled and it's still doing the same thing. I would like to play this game, it seems like fun but I can't even get far enough into it to enjoy it!! Does anyone have any advice that may help this issue?
