Need For Speed: Payback (PC) Lag / Freezing (Is it Just Me)

Hi Guys,

Firstly, I would like to thank the Need For Speed team for delivering a great game. I saw the gameplay videos on YouTube and I was impressed at what I saw. Unfortunately, when I tried playing the game on my notebook, I experienced severe freezes and lag, despite my laptop being more than capable to play the game. Here are the specs for my laptop:

Notebook: Asus FX553VD

Processor: Intel Core i5-7300HQ 2.5GHz

GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 4GB GDDR5

RAM: 8GB DDR4-2400MHz

HDD: 1TB 5400RPM HDD

OS: Windows 10 Home 64-Bit 1709

I have only been able to play the game for about 15 minutes or so. I can see my laptop can handle high graphics well, its just the lag and freezing that ruins it. I have tried reducing graphic settings to medium and low - this does not eliminate the freezing / lag experienced. In addition, I also noticed while I was driving around, some parts of the world would be rendering. I was using Nvidia graphics driver 387.92.

I have been having issues with Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, so I will be downgrading to 1703 in a few days time. Hopefully I do not experience these issues then.

Is it just me experiencing the hectic lag and freezing, regardless of graphic settings? If this an issue affecting multiple PC's, is there a patch in the works, and when can we expect it?

a known issue that effects all pc users. the response from ea is that a patch is beeing issued soon

I had this issue on the Xbox, so I don't know if this will fix your problem, but the freeze bug seems to origin from a connectivity issue.
Meaning, when you disconnect your internetcable/ turn off wifi, then the freezing of your game should stop.
A negative side effect is that you won't be able to open shipments, since they're online only.

A new patch was released today fixed my stuttering. Its about 5gb

This patch is for PC? I haven't noticed any patch updates on my side for PC. Has EA put out notes on the latest patch?

Yes it updates through origin. The patch fixes progression system and improves performance. It is listed on paybacks official page

I'm still freezing up everytime I connect to internet after the update.
One nice thing that came with the update, is that the parts from the shop are much better now, sometimes the spins are even worse than the ones in the shops. (last one still is the only way to get 3 perk cards though, as far as I know)

Hi guys I'm little frustrating cos I love nfs all series I buy most of it
and nfs payback is my dream who never living only in that great game who called nfs payback after waiting all that year's btw..
I try to play online after big update who improve my performance I have high pc gaming 8 core bla bla but some times I have stuttering with out reason after update its most of it fixed but the online is big pain in *... every time when I log on online me I start but other cars frozen I think is my router I disable I reset I change ip bla bla ... I do it again whoa is started I try next day no luck the other cars never start frozen again I think is my gpu but my gpu is king btw I try to remove my memories if there is a problem nothing much I try to get off my cooler and put in again but not luck... the cars after update always freeze and I cant play anyway if anyone tell me how to fix this cos no luck !BUT I WANNA TELL MY BIG THANKS TO NEED FOR SPEED TEAM FOR ALL THAT YEARS WHO GIVING ME THE EXPERIENCE OF A LIFE WHO IM NEVER LIVING . KEEP UP GOOD WORK LADS!

The game updates automaticaly through origin, there isnt a standalone patch file at least not that i know of
