Solved

NFS 2016 freezing, CTDs, I thought EA would have sorted this out by now.

I bought this game on release since it looks pretty darned good and I was a huge Most wanted / Carbon fan back in the day, back then it had these issues, I figured I'd leave it, play a few other games and come back to it a few months down the line when they'd patched it a bit, my mistake.

NFS 2016 suffers continual freezes any time anything saves in game and every 30mins or so I get a CTD, tried on several different Nvidia drivers, graphics settings set to ultra and low no change. Really ruins the experience, awful, awful buggy game and a real waste of potential ☹️

If it helps:

I7 4790k

GTX 980ti latest driver

16GB DDR3

Installed to an SSHD

Win 10 x64

This is the only game that has CTDs and freezing for me, it is also the only game I play on Origin.

-Disabled Origin in-game

-Repaired install within Origin client

-Ran as administrator

-Have run with all unnecessary USB peripherals removed

-Not using Asus GameFirst software

-Ran off of a clean boot

-Clean install of video drivers

-Disabled UAC on computer

-Disabled Antivirus and Firewall

-Have re-installed windows twice since the first occurrence with no improvement

😬

Having tried the above, the VCREDIST reinstalls not fixing it, I am unable to effect the first fix as secure boot is enabled on my machine and the UEFI demands it remain so, I believe I have figured the freezing issue out. The temporary freezes appear to be due to a (very) slow internet connection as the game frustratingly pauses anytime someone leaves/joins or a score of some kind is saved i.e. rep points acquired from drift, as there is no available offline mode, I guess I'm going to have to figuratively shelve this one until I get a faster connection than 15Mbps down and 0.2Mbps up ☹️ Cheers for the help anyway though. Still not solved the CTD but until I get better internet, that's sort of a moot point anyway.

    @Rofl_Al

The following post has some good info and steps, can you let us know if they work for you please?

It may also be worthwhile manually running the following setup files as Windows 10 especially tends to skip over these secondary installations when installing a game:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Need for Speed\__Installer\vc\vc2013\redist\vcredist_x64.exe

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Need for Speed\__Installer\vc\vc2013\redist\vcredist_x86.exe
