Alright I re-downloaded the game to re-check the Lotus Exige's swap options:
2.8l H6 - 763bhp
All other motors are over 700bhp, minus the H4 (690nhp). That's ok for the car, I guess. Of course, one could argue that it's not exactly balanced, since the BRZ is lighter (or equal in weight) than the Exige and gets over 1,000 bhp from swaps.
brz weights 2-300kg more than the lotus

some icon versions need more power to reach max, or get more or less performance with the same engines
some cars start out with similar 'PI' but when upgraded diverges even with similar enginesYou're right, I just checked. Exige curb weight = 2077 to 2089 lbs. Whichever lotus that I had check previously was definitely not the Exige.
That's very interesting about the balance, I wonder what causes the differences?
