If your son's EA and Xbox account are set as underage accounts, he will not be able to access any online features due to the online restrictions for underage accounts- this includes the cross-play features.
Changing his privacy settings won't allow for him to access online features, he'd need to wait until he's old enough to remove those restrictions from his account. You can read up a bit more on how underage accounts work in the article here.
Hello and thank you for your reply, my kid account is able to run it on the pc normally it is just the xbox that is refusing to let him enable the crossplay not sure what does this mean.
In windows he is playing from his windows/microsoft account which is part of my family and i control his screen time from there.
Should not the account restrictions limit the game on both platforms
