NFS Most Wanted "washed out"

I've got a random question here I wonder if anyone can help me out with. I have Most Wanted (2012) on PC and while the game looks gorgeous, I have noticed a strange thing. While driving, the image looks slightly washed out, almost like a white filter over the camera. However whenever I make contact with objects/cars or hit the ground hard, it temporarily disappears, showing off an even better picture quality. I have tried playing around with the graphics settings in-game and have no idea what might be causing this. Is this just some weird part of the game that I will just have to live with? I have experienced no other problems with performance and it runs fantastic otherwise. For reference this is the machine I am running it on: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Zook024/saved/2z4scf

I have tried repairing and updating the game with no luck. to get an idea of what I am talking about, this is with the haze and this is without

  • Of course, right after posting my question, I've found a solution. I suspected a problem with the brightness / contrast / gamma adjustments I had made earlier.

    I reset those as follows:

    • Open the Documents > Criterion Games > Need For Speed(TM) Most Wanted > config.NFS13Save file using a text editor (e.g. Notepad)
    • Change the following lines:
    • Brightness=0
    • Contrast=0
    • GammaRamp=0.990
    • Save the file and run NFS Most Wanted

I haven't touched the brightness / contrast / gamma controls in-game after that, and it now looks absolutely stunning!

  • I've noticed exactly the same thing on a different setup: Windows 8.1 and a NVidia Geforce 570 GTX (driver 337.88)

    Any help would be appreciated!

That did the trick! Took much longer to boot up I noticed but once I was in the haze was gone! Many thanks, EA support was of course clueless 🙂
