NFS Payback extras. Info you should know about
I don't know about anyone else but I'm pretty disappointed in preordering NFS Payback and paying all the extra money just to be able to play a few days before everyone else. I pretty much beat the story mode in that extra time, which is cool I guess, but that was really the only benefit as I learned today. I specifically checked with GameStop to make sure I was getting the most complete edition available to preorder. Anyways finally we are able to grab the old school Aston Martin and the Trans Am super-builds or whatever they are calling them but I was having trouble finding them. Since I own every Need for Speed from Porsche Unleashed to Payback (I did miss Shift 2 but Rivals had me hooked so I never picked it up) I know sometimes you gotta get on that PSN and add some of the additional cars to the game, no big deal right? WELL when I checked the PSN this week I realized after spending over $80 to preorder NFS payback now they are asking me to spend an extra $5 to have access to the Aston Martin and the Trans Am. Ummmm no thank you. I spent some time talking to EA today about the situation. The first person I chatted with picked up the chat really quickly and couldn't find my user or something stupid so she told me to try again later. An hour or more goes by so I try to get back on so I can figure out whats going on. It took me over an hour to get another EA rep on the chat. I attempted to access the chat and saw there was no wait time and then I waited, and waited, and waited. I thought to myself maybe there was an issue loading so I back up and try again with no success. I keep at it for a bit and eventually end up starting a new report with them and I get ahold of the wonderful Marco (sarcasm). Marco was pretty rude and wants to tell me I didn't buy the correct edition to receive these new cars. I explain to Marco that I triple checked when I preordered that there was no other editions or other editions coming out later so I preordered the Deluxe edition of Payback because the only other edition is just the standard game. The back and forth continues with Marco I ask if there's another edition I missed or should have gotten instead of the deluxe to which he replies "the deluxe edition is like the ultimate edition". I explain I'm a huge NFS fan so I always buy the complete or deluxe or ultimate edition which ever is supposed to have all the bells and whistles so I don't miss out on anything. I tell Marco that Payback was crazy expensive, in fact the most expensive game I've ever purchased why would I have to spend more money to have the access to these two new cars. Then Marco tells me "The one you purchased was only the base game" and "the other content is extra features". Well at this point I'm pretty mad because I know there were two versions of the game when I preordered and one was NFS Payback the other was NFS Payback deluxe. I don't know about you but to me the NFS Payback sounds like the base and the Deluxe sounds like I get more with the game. Apparently all you got for preordering this one was that extra week or ten days before those who didn't preorder. I end up talking to anoter EA rep on the phone about the whole thing, she apologizes for Marco and does some checking around for me. She informs me that those two new cars are only available if you buy the car pack for those two cars. I explain that this is ridiculous and wasn't the case for any other NFS that I have the complete edition before.
Here's where I'm gonna give a shout out to EA. When I purchased NFS Rivals I bought the cheap PSN download (not the complete edition) and played the * out of it. My buddy had it for PS4 and was raving about the game in general and about the crazy long race that goes all the way around the map The Grand Tour. So I check it out and I agree even though the customization was a little weak on that game it was totally sick! I play the * out of my PS3 version trying to beat his best time on the grand tour. Man I was getting so close and I don't have near the play time as my buddy. Then I find this issue when I'm really pushing it on this one corner during this long * race I keep loosing sight of the guard rail because I'm going to fast and if I touch where it should be I end up in the woods and the whole game gets mad. Sometimes it was freezing up and the only way to get it back was to restart the system. I contact EA I do a bunch of troubleshooting with them and they decide to try removing the digital download from the system and using a disc. EA sent me a FREE complete edition of Rivals. That was awesome I completely understand that I helped them out with the troubleshooting and everything but a FREE copy of the game?! I promise you that cost EA more then the $5 for these two cars. I figured they would probably tell me to update my game or something like that but instead I just get the sad sad truth that if I want the two new cars I have to spend even more money.
So now were here if you made it all the way through thank you for reading. If your annoyed about this situation add a comment who knows maybe someone from NFS or EA will see this and realize how ridiculous it is and make a change for the future maybe even just update the game so everyone gets them for free. Also before you say it I know its only $5 but I'm not made of money and am dealing with flooding in my area including my basement so I really don't have the extra $5 to spend especially after spending so much money for the game itself and only getting a few extra days of early play.
