Can we give the following a try and then check if this message continues popping up?

• Repair your game via the EA App - Repair (Library > Tile Dots > Repair)
• Clear EA App's Cache (Top Left Menu > Help > App Recovery) 
• Connection and Advance Connection Guides 
• Check for other applications that may be limiting EA App or Game performance

Hi, tried everything but it still won't work, it still says about needing verification for opening up the game, tried also reinstalling the game, and reinstalling the EA app also but won't work still.

I'm having the same issue here. i followed the trouble shooting guides with no luck, i have the keys i need and its on my account and downloaded but when i launch the game it says i need the old EA download manager to verify ownership. kind of stuck till this is figured out.

Having the same issue. I've tried every which way to get this game to work through the EA app and it cannot verify my ownership when I launch the game, even thought I'm using my CD key. 

So, was/is there an actual solution to that? Facing the exact same issue. Still.
The error message looks like it is in Dutch for whatever reason but seems to be the exact same error message.

Tried everything listed in the thread marked above as solution but all of that changed nothing and I still get the same error.

I'm experiencing the same issue with the Italian version still available on my account from the EA App.

In short the game is trying to connect to a pre-origin activation server (we're talking about a 2007 game, when the client was indeed called EA Download Manager) which probably is not even online anymore. Even if you use an advanced firewall like pfSense to try to force it to connect to current day activation servers, it still fails to activate.

Oh well. At least had quite some fun playing this game with my dad at the time 😅
