NFS Rivals Bugs

Hello community,

Need for Speed Rivals is amazing, first off, but there are plenty of bugs that are quite aggravating.  I'm wondering if it's me, or if they are just bugs that have yet to be fixed.   Here are a few off the top of my head:

-Random crashes to desktop every now and then, usually after an extended period of play, as if i ended task from task manager, instant

-Freezing, rare

-Application loses focus for no apparent reason, I bring it back to focus and I cannot interact with the game, no buttons have any effect, but music is still playing and cars are still driving by

-During high speed chase as a cop, upon causing opponent (bot) to crash so hard that their car requires reset, their car resets going the opposite direction at high speed making it impossible to catch them again

-Upon crashing my own car so hard that it requires reset, my car resets inside an object (such as a bridge) and I am forced to "end task" to continue with the game because I'm stuck

Here are my system specs just in case that matters:

Intel Core i7  4790k at 4.4GHz

Radeon "something" RAM 8GB at 2400MHz

MSI Radeon R9 280 with overdrive enabled

All on an MSI Z97 Gaming 5 Motherboard

If nothing else, this is to let EA know about these issues.  I would also appreciate any tips or help if anyone knows how to stop these issues for good.

Thanks for your time,

    @Spaghetti102

I can suggest a few things that might help.

So the first one is to temporarily disabling Origin In Game in your Origin Application Settings.

    1. Launch the Origin client.
    2. Go to the Origin menu, Application Settings, Origin In Game,
    3. Uncheck "Enable Origin In Game"

This should help with random crashes and overall performances.

Then, make sure you have all your drivers and Windows up to date. You can find tips here:

Finding Devices and Updating Drivers but do not install beta drivers.

I also highly recommend trying a Clean Boot.  The Clean Boot process disables many background tasks that may be causing interference. While doing so, launch the game only and test it.

Also, if you haven't done it it, repair the game in Origin, we never know, some files can get corrupted sometimes.

    1. Go to My Games in Origin
    2. Right-click the game image
    3. Select "Repair Install"

Hope this helps, let us know how it goes.

I believe I figured out what the problem was.  I have an AMD graphics card and so this application called AMD Gaming Evolved comes packaged with the driver updates.  It has an in-game overlay, video recording options, etc.  I turned this off while I'm playing the game and everything rungs just fine.  No crashing, no locking up, nothing.  It's somewhat dissappointing that I have to choose between perfectly smooth gameplay and game recording capabilities but nevertheless I'm glad I found out what was causing this.  Also, before you ask, yes I tried turning off Origin in-game and just having the AMD Gaming Evolved app running without it, since I figured maybe the two in-game overlays were conflicting somehow, but no that doesn't seem to help.  Gaming Evolved must be the bug, so I apologize.

PS.  No other racing game has held my attention for this long since Midnight Club LA, keep up the good work.
