NFS Rivals Pavement turns to sand or bare dirt and then car gets stuck, game freezes.

    Well, this is an edit of the post I made below. The solution I thought was found only worked for a couple days and now back to the same problem all over again.

    When driving along there will be a portion of the pavement sliced away and bare dirt where pavement should be. Also turns out that the game is near crashing and unable to drive in another direction for only short distance before the same is encountered. At the same time if I use the Escape key the game crashes and does not respond.

    Opened tickets with Game Advisor and have ongoing communication with them but still unresolved as of 3-12-2014. Updated Nvidia Drivers to most recently released yesterday hoping that would solve the issue. Failed.

    So, solution not found. Despite what I wrote below.

    Ok, Solution finally found. I am the original poster of this thread. Game was saved onto my D drive as my C is 60gig SSD. Game advisor said they will not service problems/issues unless game is installed on C. Reluctantly I moved Rivals and Origin and MW, the games I play the most, to my small C drive.

    Rivals now runs almost flawlessly and so much better than ever b4. After about 10 hours of playing I've only experienced this freezing issue twice, compared to every time I played the game previously.

    Origin has to be on same drive as Rivals. I told game advisor that all my other games were on my D and would Origin find them ok. He said yes, np. Well, that turned out not to be true at all. I also had to move MW to C. don't really have room on that little SSD anymore, just a few gigs. So, rest of my games are in limbo until I get a bigger C and go through the whole OS install and all that.

    But, for now Rivals is a blast and runs great.

I have the same issue as well, the only thing I can think of is that it's related to the hard drive. This happens more frequently if I am recording with FRAPS or Dxtory to the same disk but can sometimes occur even when I'm not. Im going to install a new SSD next week and will also be moving from W7 to W8. We'll see if the problem still persists then.

    Hello Trickeh2k, Thank you for your post.

    My C drive is a 60 gig SSD, but the game is installed on my 1 TB D drive. I've seen other players already stuck in the sand just prior to my arrival. If this is somehow not related to my weak GPU my thought was that maybe its a server/game related issue. As I mentioned earlier there was one time I was able to slow and stop just at the edge of the pavement and not enter into the barren area. I was also able to observe another player out there that was stuck. I don't recall exactly what happened next. I think possible I just turned around and kept driving another direction and that later the area resolved itself back to normal. It is a strange phenomena. Be interesting if more people see this that have experienced the same. Good luck with the SSD...lot of great deals out there right now on those.

      Heh, I actually too have a 60GB SSD as an OS disk and a 1TB WD Caviar Black as storage/gaming disk. Managed to snag myself a 128GB Samsung 840 EVO for $67.35 (local online store that had a celebration sale with insane prices)! It's certainly not your GPU since i experience the same with an EVGA GTX 780 Classified overclocked to 1293Mhz on the core and 7200Mhz on the memory.

        At this point I think it's clear that all the issues we're having are not due to hardware but to the game itself. This is an unoptimized PC port of NFS Rivals and it shows. The only people who can fix the problems are EA/GHOST so I suggest we all get on social media and make their lives hell until they fix this piece of sh!t game!!!
