NFS Rivals without sound

Greetings!

I have a technical problem with Need for Speed Rivals for PC, full version on Steam. I don't know what happened, but the game suddenly lost audio.

Yesterday (Tuesday, October 3) the game was working properly. Everything was normal when I turned off the PC. When I started it today I noticed that it was completely silent: no music, no voices, no sound effects.

I tried several solutions: I checked my audio devices, started other games (EA titles included) and the only one with problems is NFS Rivals. I even re-installed the game and the glitch persists.
I googled and searched the Steam discussion threads for any reports of this problem and it seems I'm not the only one with this issue.

Has anyone else had this problem?
