NFS The Run Remastered (HD Remaster+)

Sharing this suggestion - I believe The Run deserves a remaster on modern consoles and PC and would do as great as or better than Hot Pursuit Remastered due to the extremely intense and fun multiplayer (campaign and challenge series as well).  Two very different games but it's a linear racing masterpiece just like HP with more *spice*

The Run had possibly the best all-around multiplayer next to HP 2010, and was always very active in my experience until servers shut down.  I believe this game would be very popular on modern consoles if ported/remastered right.  The game has aged great due to how extremely well and unique it plays, has an amazing car list for the type of racing game it is, beautiful graphics, and brilliant level design.

This would be a great time to do it since The Run has only gained quite a bit of traction in the past 5 or so years, fans wanting more of this game on modern consoles, etc.

IMO The Run's Multiplayer was the closest thing to a COD style multiplayer in the way it was designed, which made it super easy to just hop on and find a match -- the simplicity was there, good UI along with calling cards, avatars, a great progression system for a linear multiplayer racing game.
The Run has that intensity that no modern NFS has had since, it's a one of one, which makes for a very fun game especially in MP.
All in all, I'm saying The Run would make for a more than great modern remaster release if all of this was considered.  The systems already in place are as solid as HP.

My suggestions for changes, fixes, enhancements, and add ons would be

- Progression System for Multiplayer should exceed Level 30 maybe with an added prestige system if not too much work (so if anyone who plays enough can keep leveling up rather than staying stagnant.  That issue has been present in all modern NFS titles, I personally think many players would appreciate a somewhat limitless progression system similar to COD titles.  Say you've earned everything by level 30, it would still be nice to have a badge of prestige and do it again if the player wanted.  I can't speak for everyone but if it's not too much trouble to add, it would add just an extra bit of fun to play and progress similar to other MP games.  I personally wish modern NFS games went past 50 or let you keep leveling up just for the sake of it (maybe with an in game badge of sorts)
- Maybe add more modern vehicles from the past 10 years if that's at all possible, but not a dealbreaker if not.
- The Cut-Content should be added, and finish the unfinished or scrapped cut content.  This game already had so much to offer but would be cool to see the cut content and maybe even some new ideas if remastered this way.

- Maybe if possible add a New Game+ mode?  Alternate Ending?  A No-Hud option would be cool too and make it more hardcore, realistic, and cinematic.

- Fixed Checkpoints after needing to "reset".  Some put you back way too far, or take too long to load (SP and MP)
- Fixed Load Times (I'd imagine this would be easy with modern hardware compared to PS3/360)

- RAY TRACING + 4K is what The Run deserves with how incredible the visuals are all throughout the game.  Plus fixing some character defects and touching up some textures.

EA should really consider this along with remastering other popular Classic NFS titles in between new NFS releases.  It would bring great success, sales, and new opportunities.  All I see is EA (and the community) benefiting from this.  Underground1&2, MW05, Carbon, ProStreet, The Run.

(Edited - corrected some mistakes etc, thank you)

  • I’ve honestly been wanting a remaster for need for speed the run for as long as I can remember. As well as most wanted 2012. I’m not the only person to feel like this. It’s been 13 years and honestly those 2 games would be great since you all remastered hot pursuit. I’m willing to bet they could do even better than hot pursuit remastered. I still remember when I got need for speed the run. It was Christmas night when I went to my cousins house and nearly had a heart attack because I was so excited back then. I’m 20 years old now and I’ve been looking for updates on a remaster since hot pursuit remastered came out. If anything please remaster these 2 games and then I’ll be happy with y’all making a completely new need for speed. These games were my childhood and I really want to go back and experience them both for the first time in at least 10 or 11 years. I’m begging y’all!!!
