NFSMW AUTOLOG WEBSITE
I have recently noticed that the NFSMW (2012) autolog website has been taken down and will take this opportunity to lodge my complaint and ask a few questions.
Re: www.needforspeed.com/autolog
The autolog site now redirects to http://www.needforspeed.com/network which is apparently for another NFS game that has not yet released.
Is NFSMW Autolog functionality going to be integrated into the new service ?
There has been NO notification of the withdrawal of this service on www.ea.com/1/service-updates.
Clearly published on the back of the retail case (PS3) in capital letters is the following statement,
"EA may retire online features, online services and downloadable content after 30 days notice posted on www.ea.com/1/service-updates"
There has been NO notification of the withdrawal of this service on www.ea.com/2/service-updates.
As stated in the EULA. which is, after all the legally binding document between EA and the End User.
I wonder where this leaves EA legally, perhaps someone at EA should ask their guys and girls over in that department ... before these kind of decisions are made and acted upon, OOPS, EA may have in fact broken the terms of their own EULA, but hey that's a question for the legal crews they employ is it not ? or is it just a question of how much is it going to cost EA if and when they get caught ?
Fair enough, the online game servers and services will not be there forever.
This game is less than 12 months old and already the online services are being cut down without proper notification .... WHY ???
OH WAIT !! THERE'S A NEW NFS TITLE TO BUY SOON D'UH !!
I have found that there is a EA help thread stating that the service has been shutdown.

There is a mention of a companion app, although this does not help me as I do not own any iOS devices which seems to be the only platform supported.
It would seem on face value that the app is going to do exactly what the website did, only I suspect the app will generate money through the app store no doubt, there was nothing stating the app would be free and it would be about as painful as removing your own testicle with a glass sledge hammer for EA to give anything of value to the gaming community away for free.
There also appears to be a glitch now apparent, perhaps as a result of this happening, maybe it was always there.
PS3 trophy "Social Climber" for getting 5 NFS friends does not unlock if some of those 5 friends happen to be playing on another platform such as PC.
Example: I have several friends on Origin on both PC and PS3 who own the game but I do not have 5 friends on my friends list for either individual platform PC/PS3 that own the game, in fact it is 4x PC and 1x PS3 currently who are currently added to my Origin friends list that own the game, this should fulfil the requirement to have 5 or more NFS friends and unlock the trophy, their jack spot and billboard data shows in-game and game progression data shows in-game under driver details but only very basic comparison of the game/DLC completion rates is possible in-game for other players.
Another issue created is the inability to add custom profile pictures to the billboards and jack spots anymore, a promoted feature of the game.
New PS3 players are now stuck with using their PSN player profile picture, and those like myself who have already uploaded a custom picture to the autolog site are now unable to change it, if we should choose to do so, We can not even change it to a default PSN picture as there is no option within the game to change it anywhere.
I cant say that I am particularly surprised at the fact that EA have once again broken something that worked, unnecessarily, without an explanation, or even a simple post in the correct,/ expected,/ documented place where their customers will be easily able to find out why a particular aspect of their game no longer works or is no longer supported.
EA employees probably do not even take any notice of the content posted on this site, let alone respond.
Oh well more food for the trolls.
