Nothing happens when I launch the game

Hi there !

I bought NFS Rivals yesterday, got it installed on my PC, all was fine. But when I try to launch the game, on Origin or on my desktop, nothing happens. I have a little pop-up "starting the game" that lasts 1 second, and after that, nothing. I tried to let my computer runing for hours, nothing.

I have a process explorer that shows me that origine.exe, NFS14.exe and ActivationUI.exe are running. Is this Activation thing bugging everything ?

And if I try to close Origin, it says that "NFS Rivals is running".

I use Windows 7, I have a NVIDIA GTX770 and an i7 920, which, I think, are way enough to run the game correctly.

What can I do to fix that ?

Thank you !

(btw sorry for my english, I usually speak french)

Hum, yesterday my computer was doing really bad, even Steam and Uplay weren't working. I decided to reinstall Windows to start again with a new and fresh computer, and good news, it fixed the problem.

I have no idea what was bugging all my games, but it seems to be fixed.

Thanks again for your help ^^

Can you please try changing the Color mode for your monitor.

    5

    Color mode for your monitor

     (Solution 5)
    1. Exit Origin (if you can't exit it normally, try opening Task Manager and use End Process on Origin).
    2. Open Screen Resolution by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, and then, under Appearance and Personalization, clicking Adjust screen resolution.
    3. Click Advanced settings, and then click the Monitor tab.
    4. Under Colors, select True Color (32 bit), and then click OK.
    5. Launch Origin again.

    If the issue persists:

    1. Run Origin as Administrator: Right-click the Origin icon on your desktop and select Run As Administrator. Restart Origin and try launching your game.
    2. Temporarily disable anti-virus software that may be prohibiting Origin from being able to function properly. Restart Origin and try launching your game with the anti-virus off to see if that solves the issue. If so, you may need to adjust the settings of your anti-virus software to exclude Origin.
    3. Try the windowed mode
If you can play normally in windowed mode, then this issue is likely due to the screen resolution, you'll just need to adjust this setting. Launch the game and press Alt + enter simultaneously in order to trigger the windowed mode.

Thanks for your answer. Sadly nothing worked. I already had the color settings like that. I thought it may be because I use two monitors, tried to unplug it, still not working.

Didn't try the last thing, but how do I choose the windowed mode or not if I can't even open the game ?

Alright, I just saw a post from another player who was experiencing a black screen issue (I know this issue is different than yours however you can also try his workaround.)

Ok i fixed my problem by downloading the latest origing installer and reinstalling over the top of my current version and now it's working.

Can you please make sure that your Origin Client is up-to-date?

    Most Recent version: Version 9.5.1

I would have suggested the compatibility troubleshooter but since you're playing on a Windows 7 system there shouldn't be any issue with the compatibility (you can still try thought - Click Here.)

    Trying with another windows account.
Please create another Windows User account (without special characters such as àéñõü)  and see if it works.

Update the driver for your Video Card, do not update for a beta version though.

Windows System Time + Date : check the clock in Windows and make sure the date + time are both correct.

If you have 2 (or more) monitors, make sure you have disabled any software utility.

    Finally change your screen resolution

    • Right-click on the desktop and select Screen Resolution.
    • Reduce the resolution as much as possible.
    • Save the changes.
    • Revert back to the usual resolution and restart the computer.
