Same exact system, swapped HD 6950 for 7950 and game runs great. It's AMD, the driver required for NFS16 is 16.3.1, and the 6900 and previous cards only go up to 16.2.

If you purchased the game via Origin, then you will be eligible for a refund. Checking the minimum requirements show that 6xxx cards don't actually meet the standards. It will be the same for any 5xxx card.
Having said that, some 6xxx cards will be up to par with the minimum required 7580 card, but if there are no updated drivers for these cards then I am afraid that you might run into similar problems as players have been reporting in this thread.
Lastly, you have to take into account as well that Need for Speed is a very heavy game, you will require a heavier system to run it than for games such as Battlefield 4, which is almost three years older. This means that if your system Runs Battlefield 4 without issues, it is not a guarantee that it will run Need for Speed.

It's not about refund...it's about EA blaming this on AMD...EA f****d up, why blame this on AMD...I also have same problem on my pc specs are
AMD A8-6600k apu(3.90ghz) with radeon hd 8570d integrated graphics...runing gta5 , battlefield...watch dogs ect(on medium settings)....with no problems
Unfortunately it has always been part of EA's way to just leave stuff like this and not take the hit as their own. However in this case I hope they admit liability and fix the issue as there are now quite a few of us mounting up with the exact same issue. It's definitely not AMD's fault here, as The Division and a bunch of other games with minimum specs of 2gb Graphics cars run on my system in decent graphics and FPS. My processor, and RAM ect. more than make up for that loss. What a total windup! I was so eager to play this and have been waiting since it was first announced. As a community manager Tom, it would be greatly appreciated if this could be sent to the studio as a serious issue to fix, my guess is that if all of us have taken their time to report the error, there are thousands of others that are not as tech savvy or time giving as too complain!
yeah we all got our hopes up and it doesn't work hahah defiantly not AMD's fault, hopefully its been reported enough that there will be a fix soon.
6900 series are pretty good graphics cards and with 2 gb should run this game at least on low settings
