Questions about how voice chat works
Hello EA team and players.
The other day, while playing online with a friend, I teamed up with him on the game for the first time. We were already in call via discord, and in-game call turned on by itself. I had to turn it off to stop redundant sounds. It was enabled by default.
My questions are :
1) What is the scope of proximity voice chat ? Does it fire up with any nearby player (even not in crew), any nearby crew member or is it active only with invited players (in parties) ?
2) What does proximity exactly means ? Is it when I see an other player's icon (and his/her platform) and that I also can send pre-made message with the chat wheel ?
3) Concerning game-wide voice chat, is it limited to team mates ?
I wanted to ask precisely because even if having a default starter crew and crossplay sounds a good thing, the lack of clarity about when voice chat is on/off and regular/proximity voice chat is a bit confusing. In the game option voice chat is enabled by default and set on party only, but I don't know if this also applies to prox chat.
Given that every player starts with a crew made of random people, I hope voice chat (proximity and global, and related things like speech to text) requires an invite for safety reasons.
Thank you, cheers.
