You do not have to buy anything when updating your graphic card driver.
Actually, you can download the last driver from the manufacturer's website. Most of the time you'll find a tool you can run and that will automatically detect your video card. You'll be then redirected to the download page.
If you know what hardware you use, you can go directly to the manufacturer’s official page. If you're not sure what hardware you may have, try these:
- Intel
- NVIDIA
- PhysX -- PhysX is found on many NVIDIA graphics cards and will usually update automatically alongside the graphics card's drivers.
- AMD -- You will need to download the AMD Driver Autodetect tool before you can scan your system.
The above is not a complete list of manufacturers. Please see the section below for additional common manufacturers.
- If your manufacturer is not listed, you will want to locate their official website.
If any scans detect new drivers to be downloaded, follow any prompts presented to download and install the new drivers. This may involve restarting your computer one or more times.
