Re: Need for Speed: Shift 2 Unleashed does not run at all!

Alright, thank you for having tried and for this confirmation.

I don't think the issue is related to the code itself because you all got the game activated or at least the confirmation.

I know the Original poster has tried to update the graphic card drivers and I would like to ask you to try this as well.

I just post below the system requirements but I am sure your system reaches these requirements.

PC OS:     Windows XP (SP3), Vista (SP2), Windows 7
 CPU:   Intel Core® 2 Duo 2.0 GHz/AMD Athlon x 2 64 2.4GHz

HARD DRIVE:  At least 7GB free space
DVD-ROM:  8x Speed
VIDEO CARD: DirectX® 9.0c Compatible 3D-accelerated 512 MB video card with Shader Model 3.0 or higher*
*Supported Video Cards are NVidia GeForce 8 Series or higher, ATI HD3 Series or higher. Multiplayer requires one disc per PC and a 512 Kbps or faster connection. One player per PC. 2-12 Players.

Hey everyone, I got mine to work. Download the game through origin, then go into the origin games folder, then shift 2 unleashed, then change the name of the shift2u application and then launch the application and the game should run. I changed mine to shift2 and it works now. Somebody suggested it to me and I have no idea why it works.

This is indeed interesting. Has anyone else tried this workaround? If so please post a comment below.

    Thanks for this information bradcq.

If this is working I would assume the repair install function works as well on Origin, this is maybe due to a missing file.

When you rename a file the system detects an anomaly, and replaces it downloading the missing part.

Maybe this is what happened here.

I used that work around, it meant the I couldn't run NFS through Origin.

I got an update from Nvidia this morning for drivers (320.18). My game now works flawlessly, including all DLC. It's something in the Nvidia drivers I believe.

Yeah after putting many hours into the game using that renaming workaround, the game just stopped working again for no apparent reason. I'll look for those drivers.

Going to try downloading it via origin now.  Hopefully I will get it done before I leave again on Monday.  I'm also downloading the graphics card update to see if that works.

Have you had the chance to check if there an update for your driver?
If so, is it working now?

There is an update for my drivers available, but it won't install correctly so I had to roll back to my previous version.
