Re: [PC]Unable To Play In Fullscreen

i seem to be having problems running the game in fullscreen mode. In the graphics settings, i have disabled windows mode but it is still running in windowed mode.

Alt-enter while in game dosent seem to work as well. I currently have a gaming laptop on windows 8.1 with gtx970 graphics and i7-4710 processor. Settings for the GPU have been toggled to gaming settings and enabled maximum performance for the game. Also updated to the latest driver.

Also im running my laptop on an external monitor at 1080p. But thats not the issue. Even when unplugged and running on my laptop's screen it is still unable to run fullscreen,

Hope to get it resolved so i can enjoy the game in its glorious display.

    Hi @HCosB

Just use ALT-Enter or / and go in Origin / My Games tab, right click on game icon, select Repair Game.

NOTE i am not 100% sure but i think i found a solution.

In your Nvidia control panel go to Set resolution, you will probably see that the resolution is set to 1920x1080 Native, now set resolution to 1920x1080 without the Native and set refresh rate to 60 and hit Apply.

Start NFS and it should now start in full screen, if not you go THEN into settings and set desired screen options.

    Hi @yahel_1

My nvidia control panel does not have a setting to change the resolution, it only has 1 tree node which is the 3D settings node. Updates are checked and it said no updates are available as well.

    @Straatford87

Tried all above methods but it dosent seem to work. Attached is my dxdiag for your reference.

    Thanks :D

@Straatford87 None of the solutions work.

@yahel_1: There's no option because by default our HDMI and regular display are linked to Intel and not nVidia cards.

@Straatford87 Yeah 😢 This website said my laptop "does not meet the minimum specifications required to run this product", which is pretty sad. Anyway I have 40-50 FPS  with minimum settings (and "ULTRA" on geometry) in window mode. So I still believe it's not the problem of my hardware. Thank you for your help.

Ok @Shonox  i can confirm that disabling DPI scaling fixed ull screen issue with the Intel on board

Try disabling DPI scaling: right click on game exe, properties, compatibility tab, check "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings"

If game does not tell system that it supports high DPI displays natively, Windows will try to be smart and automatically upscale everything. Depending on how high DPI your display is this might have increased resolution beyond GPU limit. That setting disables this behavior.

More details here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0xS-UCuyq7s  This video will show you how to disable display scaling on High DPI settings globally; eg. for all programs on your system. It will also show you an easier fix which can be applied for individual programs & apps.

I am having this investigated at the moment. Updates will be posted in this thread.

If someone managed to figure it out in the meantime, make sure you post it here as well so we can mark it as a solution.

Did anyone have any luck with unplugging their controller(s)  until the game is fully loaded?  I'd like to report it to Nvidia if it was Shield related, but if it happens with non Nvidia controllers, it's obviously not the Shield controller.  It's still the only way I can run it.  Please note if you missed my first post, you can plug it in and use it after it boots, just leave it out during the launch.

GL to all still having problems, That game is pretty good I hope you get to play soon.

Also, not sure if it's because there are really good moderators here, or just a better community in general, but it's really cool how people are asking for help in a civilized manner and how many people in the community are helping. This is yet another reason to like Origin more than similar sites.  Thanks all.

    Hi 🙂

I managed to fix the problem like this:

I upgraded my windows 8.1 to 10 so that I was able to install the latest graphic driver (Nvidia and Intel hd graphics 4600). I think the problem is that NFS needs driver versions xx.xx.15.... or later and mine were something like xx.xx.10.... for Intel and xx.xx.13.... for Nvidia.

    I hope this helps 🙂
