Some old NFS World accounts are now causing Origin password reset notices

Some of my friends and I recently received 1 or 2 Origin password reset emails, for old NFS World accounts, in the last month, even though NFS World was shutdown back on July 14, 2015. What is triggering these resets over 2 years later?

    I forgot to explain that most of these old NFS World accounts haven't been used since NFS World was shutdown, and were never used for any other NFS game. In my case, I had created an NFS World account for a family member, and that account was never used for any other EA  / Origin / Steam games, only NFS World, yet I i received an account password reset email for that old account less than a month ago. There hadn't been any activity for that account since NFS World shutdown back on July 14, 2015.
