The infinite loading screen issue has been resolved and players should now be able to load their game without issues. For anyone that is experiencing loading issues, please follow the connection steps in our Need for Speed troubleshooting guide.
The most important connection steps are the following:
Do a hard reset on your console and router (unplug both from power for about two minutes)
Use a wired connection
Enable port forwarding on your router. You can find more info on how to do that in a PS4 and XB1 guide
For me the solution was to set the PS4 as an exposed host on the router (DMZ)...
If the issue persists, please respond to this thread with the following information:

Your console:
Your ISP:
Your router model:
Selected Play after waiting five minutes:
UPDATE 17:38GMT: Please try waiting for 5 minutes on the NFSN screen before choosing Play. Let us know if that helps

Thanks for the info guys. It's super useful. Could you maybe try to turn off your console and try to connect again after waiting 15 minutes of so? Let us know what happens then.
Those trouble shooting methods don't do anything to help. Your servers are the problem. You haven't had robust enough servers for several of your recent game launches. You need to be ready for the amount of people that will inevitably be trying to play in the first week or so after a game launch. Or you could just stop trying to be cool with having everything about the game require an Internet connection.
If nothing else EA could have at least made it so the intro was offline so you could get that out of the way and then join a friends session. I can't even start the intro since the server connection keeps getting lost.

3 hours of trying and still no luck. I've tried relaunching the game, power cycling my ps4, opening the correct ports. It's too bad I can't return the game since I opened it up.
