To the OP: I agree that the physics could use some work. Actually I feel like the handling for a NFS title is the best it has been in years. But I do agree that you shouldn't have to drift in order to go faster. We should have genuine grip racing in the game.
That said, I can't agree with the idea that Ghost had everything set up for them and all they had to do was 'not get it wrong.' Fact is, the NFS community has been divided for years on what they want the franchise to be. What you want, based on my interpretation of what you said, was basically the SHIFT titles. So the franchise has already heard you, made that type of game, and they didn't sell all that well. Naturally they are now trying something different. Knowing how much negativity there is online, they will probably go in a completely different direction once again in a vain attempt to try to please the masses, so just stay tuned - we may get your wish next time.
"What you want, based on my interpretation of what you said, was basically the SHIFT titles."
How you managed to come to that conclusion is beyond me.
He wants proper NFS games, like the ones that came before Underground. Before it all became about customization and story and other such nonsense.
- 8 years agoNo, it's not that I don't like drift physics, it's the DRIFT EVENTS I do not like. Like I said, the physics were fine, but it's the drifting we don't want. If you played the online recently, you'd understand my words better. Drift events, not drifting in general.

The physics don't allow you grip race. Every race is a drift event practically, the only difference being whether or not your drifting is scored lol. So I thought you were complaining about the physics.

By your definition "proper" NFS games were exclusively about racing. I'd put the over/under of how many times he said racing in his post at about 27. So yeah, Shift 1 & 2 are about the closest NFS has come to pure racing since the Underground days. Not sure why that was hard to decipher.

Pre-Underground games were exclusively about racing. If anything NFS Shift is less about racing, since it also featured a drift mode, not to mention drag mode which is barely racing.
- 8 years ago@ mrtun3r So you are saying that Shift shouldn't be called a racing game because it includes drifting and another established racing discipline that you refuse to acknowledge? Sure bud.
If you think that in today's day and age a NFS game can be wildly successful by only included grip racing and nothing else whatsoever, you are hopelessly obtuse.
- 8 years agoExactly iagree man, i been waiting many years too for a proper NFS game. Without tuning NOS or awkard story campain. Need for speed got famous because of entertaining simcade racing, plus realistic police chases. Atleast if you compear it with todays NFS games, soo i would love a High Stakes remake or something.
