Same thing here. Bought the game a few days ago and didn't notice the problem the first time I played.. Then I got the free update of about 2gb installed and the sound started cutting off randomly, pretty much all the time. Often in the exact moment of a collision, crash or any "sudden change" in the audio.
Really distracting, when you're trying to react fast during those hard races and you can't stop thinking about the sound going off and back on again about 50 times during every race... At least it throws my concentration (and immersion) off big time.
