Well, installed this game. Tried playing it and found myself stuck in second gear.
Looked around menus which as per most modern EA games are dumbed down. I came online to discover this is a well known issue. Two years after the game is released this still hasn't been fixed.
Game now being uninstalled. I haven't got the time or inclination to be your QA tester. EA, you really need to sort yourselves out. Bad game. Bad company.

Like I said, it isn't my job to try and resolve what should be a really basic issue. If EA can't remedy such a basic problem they really need to take a long hard look in the mirror. It is 2018 and using an XBox controller in Windows shouldn't present any issues to a half way decent developer.
I've already wasted enough time on this. I'm not looking for a solution at this point, I simply wanted to voice my dissatisfaction as a customer.
