EA is completely ignoring Singleplayer...
Hi guys,
it's not every day that I post a topic for NFS Unbound, but this new update is such a massive insolence that I can't ignore it.
The new Volume 4 update gives us the Porsche Taycan, which at first glance sounds great as it's the first ever EV in Need for Speed. However, the unlock requirement will restrict everyone without an internet connection from unlocking this very car.
You need to complete 4 Porsche Playlists. And those are inaccessible in Story Mode. In what world is an online-only unlockable fair for a racing game? I understand that EA wants us to play online, but ever since the Cops made their way to online, it completely disrupts play as you can't enter events while chased, and if you're at Heat 5 in a B Class car, well, say goodbye to your hard earned money. This is completely unfair and therefore I consider it a bad design choice.
Also, I don't know what the game considers by the term "complete". Do you have to win the playlist or can you just sit at the starting line waiting for the race to end to unlock your cars? There's nothing that explains anything about these unlockables.
The worst part about it is that Singleplayer gets completely ignored, as if EA just throws some awesome cars, a few events, and a story similar to Payback into a bucket and that's it. Wrong. There are so many ways to improve Story Mode, and none are taken into consideration, because EA focus on the only part of the entire game that's garbage.
Need for Speed games always had the best experience in Singleplayer, and if I was in charge of development, I would put the main focus there. I don't know how you see it, but Lakeshore Online ruins the entire game, especially since the Cops were patched in there.
Let me know what you think about it.
Good day,
Nico
