My thoughts of NFS Unbound updates coming to an end and with the future of NFS:
I'm not too surprised with NFS Unbound not getting any more updates and new content anymore when there was a NFS Unbound Ultimate Collection (that contains all post-launch DLC content) which game companies do when a game is at its end-of-life. That was a clue that NFS Unbound was nearing its end. Now who knows when the next NFS game comes out when there hasn't been any kind of development for the next NFS game. With all the Criterion devs working on Battlefield, the next NFS game could release in 2026 (not very likely), 2027 (possibly), or 2028 (possibly) as EA wants the next Battlefield to release in 2025.
But as a huge NFS fan, this really sucks. It was speculated that NFS Unbound was not gonna get any more updates and new content anymore after Volume 9. But when it is actually true and real, things hit and feel different.
I am bittersweet about this, like both happy and sad, about NFS Unbound not getting any more updates and new content. I'm happy that there won't be any more FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) contents anymore, but I'm also sad that the game itself isn't getting any more updates and any glitches / bugs that didn't get fixed / patched will never get fixed / patched now.
I think there's a few months of FOMO contents left in NFS Unbound (up to June 2025 I think) before I can put NFS Unbound to rest for good with the Weekly Rap rewards from Lockdown game mode every week.
NFS Unbound basically received content updates for 2 years. From December 2022 to December 2024. Longer than any other console and PC NFS game ever (aside from NFS World) with previous console and PC NFS games getting abandoned after 6 months.
Well, I've enjoyed playing NFS Unbound being the NFS fan that I am. 😄
