Lockdown - This needs to change!
Dear Criterion,
Volume 9 of NFS Unbound is pretty good, and the Lockdown mode in general is a good idea. However, there are A LOT of things that disrupt gameplay completely, and those things need to be fixed on the double.
- First up, and that's the MIT (Most Important Thing) in a sense, I witnessed a lot of players triggering a truck without extracting just to prevent the players that desperately need to get away from extracting. To prevent this, the crew that triggers the truck absolutely MUST extract before the truck disappears, otherwise all remaining crew members that didn't extract will be immediately busted and lose their progression.
- The Lockdown zone is ticking too quickly. Imagine you're in an A+ car like Kaze's Mercedes, chased by Heat 5 cops, and you're almost demolished, desperately seeking to get out of the zone because you recently repaired and you're on cooldown. Having the zone tick less (gap between taking zone damage is bigger) helps mitigate this and also helps surviving in the zone with a car.
- There needs to be a Solo option. Having five crews of three on a small map like this can be extremely stressful. Having a Solo option in which five independent players go up against each other is a good way to make Lockdown less stressful.
- The match needs to take longer. 30 minutes is just too short, and the zone expands rapidly. A minimum of 45 minutes would also help with making Lockdown less stressful, and it gives more time to find impounds and extract with the truck.
- And speaking of impounds, the impounds that are inaccessible should marked with a red impound symbol when you're within radar range. Driving around aimlessly with 100k in the books is not cool, especially when you look for a specific car which could be in one of those hidden impounds.
If all these points are considered and added in a future update, then Lockdown could turn out to be a fun mode to play.
Let's hope for the best.
- Nico
