Multiplayer: Co-Op Campaign?

In the lead up to the release, various tabloids have written that this game will support a story mode co-op that is separate from that of the single player campaign. How do i and a friend of mine initiate this co-op campaign? and if there is no multiplayer co-op why was it advertised as such?
