I think it has something to do with the graphic cards in the consoles. Plenty of times when driving the Regera at high speeds I see the scenery being drawn ahead of me. This also happened in Rivials on my ps3. I would be driving so fast 280mph that I would run out of pavement and the car just froze in that spot. I could be wrong but that's the only reason that they might limit the cars speed. I,m sure if you have a high end pc you would be fine, but we have cross play.

In the NFS MW12 on PS3 you were able to drive 452kmph with no problem. Engine used - Chameleon.
NFS Rivals - Frostbite. Even the devs were complaining about this * engine. Looks cool, works worse.
