All money disappeared

Think I figured out the what happened. After almost doing it again, i went to exit the game. The game/controller/lag/me pushing button too fast or whatever hung on "Go Online" instead of going down one more option to "Leave Game". You can still leave/exit while the system is transferring your info to Online, and if you do so, you will be left with whatever amount the money is at in the uploading process. Almost went from $1.8M down to $2,000 if i had not let the process finish transferring info. So, having "GO ONLINE" right above "LEAVE GAME" is a crappy place for that to be.
This happened to me as well. Wife hurried me to exit the game so we can watch a series and accidentally selected "Go Online". Then I could exit the game before the process finished. I think its a very dumb decision to let the user exit while the progression is not saved/transfered. I lost almost 300k that I grinded for a car...
