I already played the game for 2 Hours, but then i tried to start it the other day and it didnt work anymore. I get this DirectX Error message, right on startup. Like the game doesnt even start, i get a black screen and the error message...

r/needforspeed - DirectX Error

I already tried the repair option in the EA app, deleting the Dx12 Files from shadercache and documents, my graphicscard is on the newest driver... Nothing worked.

My specs are:

-AMD RX6750XT Power Color

-Ryzen 7 5800X 3D

-Gigabyte Aorus b550 elite v2

-32Gb Ram

Please help me, i want to play the game i payed for....

  • Literally 5 Minutes after posting this i solved the issue!

I disabled Anti LAg in the AMD Adrenalin Software, now it works, Anti Lag seems to interfere with something.

@LilBoPaul Another question. Was it Anti Lag or Anti Lag+? Cause Anti Lag+ does stuff to the game that regular Anti Lag doesn't do. I just want to clearify.

I gotta check that when im home.

  • I am having similar issues but the removing LAG instructions from this site https://www.maketecheasier.com/enable-nvidia-amd-anti-lag/, did not help.  I have done the following steps:

    Repaired the game

    Reinstalled the game

Uninstalled the latest driver and went back one for NVida

    Updated the driver

Set the DirectX in the program file in my document file to 1

    Reset screen sizes

    Tested Video card (not overclocked)

All this happened after I did the recent patch download from EA for Battlefield 2042

    Ryzen 9 Processor

    32 Gigs ram

    Nvida 1080ti Card

New build so no bad chips or cards.

Is there a patch for this coming out in two days with the Season 7 patch?

You can try and put these 2 commands in cmd: "DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth" and "sfc /scannow"

Sorry did not work.  This error was prominent in the releases in 2021 from what I read on the web.  They had to wait for patch updates... Is this where we are at now?

Here is a email from tech support to check my machine:

    Hello John,

Thank you for providing the additional details and the steps you've already taken to troubleshoot the issue with Battlefield 2042. I understand how frustrating it can be to encounter persistent technical difficulties, especially when it affects your gaming experience.

Since this issue seems to have arisen after the update, it's possible that there may be a compatibility issue between your system configuration and the changes introduced in the latest patch. While it's understandable that the Battlefield 2042 support team may suggest the issue lies with individual systems, the widespread nature of the problem among users suggests a potential software-related issue.

To further investigate and potentially resolve this issue, I recommend the following steps:

    1. **Contact Battlefield 2042 Support:** Reach out to the Battlefield 2042 support team again and provide them with detailed information about the steps you've taken to troubleshoot the issue. Emphasize that the problem began after the March 3rd update patch and persists despite your efforts.

    2. **Check Community Forums:** Explore online forums or communities dedicated to Battlefield 2042 to see if other players are experiencing similar issues after the latest update. Sharing experiences with other players may provide insights or alternative solutions.

    3. **Monitor for Official Updates:** Keep an eye on official announcements and patch notes from the Battlefield 2042 development team. They may release further updates or hotfixes to address known issues and improve compatibility.

If you require any further assistance or have additional questions, please don't hesitate to reach out. We're here to help you resolve this matter and get back to enjoying your gaming experience without interruptions.

Seems people are having issues with non Radeon cards... interesting.  Almost like drivvers for the game are geared toward the AMD chips not NVida cards.

We have powerful cards some 4080 cards, have to reduce to low settings just to play.  Maybe the tech support needs to look into this on the game software.

Issues have appeared since the latest update.

I've uninstalled my driver using DDU in Safe mode, re-validated my game files, went even this for to completely re-install windows (no joke).

I downgraded my AMD drivers, had 0 options enabled but still getting the error (on latest or last drivers).

No idea whats going on. It's a fresh install of Windows 11, all drivers installed.

Edit: cannot upload the crash dump for some reason
